The semiSerious Foodies cook Elote

We first tasted Elote – grilled corn Mexican style – at Cafe Habana in Malibu where it’s on the menu for $4 an ear. We decided to try cooking it ourselves.

An ear of corn is 25-50c depending on the time of year. Cotija cheese is $7-8 a pound, but less than an ounce is used per serve, so around 50c. The lime could be the most expensive ingredient at up to 30c depending on season.

Our Elote cost around $1 a serve. No tip necessary!
