The Foodies decided to try Maru Sushi Bar that is probably our second closest restaurant. We picked Bento Boxes with Miso Soup. The portions were generous and the flavor excellent for $13.14 per serve. We’ll definitely be back.
Mussels are always a favorite, and in a Goan Coconut Sauce with Naan, they make a great meal.
The Goan Simmer Sauce was $5.49 or $2.75 per serve
The Mussels were $2.49 or $1.25 per serve
The Naan $3.49 or $1.75 per serve.
It’s interesting that the Simmer Sauce and Naan were each more than the protein! Still a very tasty meal for $5.75 per serve.
Once again we had some homemade Sourdough from a neighbor.
The Giant Baked Beans are $1.99 or $1.00 per serve
Eggs are $1.02 per serve
The Sourdough was free.
A great lunch for $2.02 per serve.
After slow braising the Mexican style Beef Shoulder, we shredded it. For the Tostadas we spread Refried Black Beans on a Tostada, added the Shredded Beef, Kumato, Butter Lettuce and Salsa! The Beef will give us at least six serves.
The beef was $20.78 but we’ll get at least six serves, or $3.46 per serve
Tostados were $1.39 for 21, or 13c per serve
Baby Bell Peppers are 16c each or 32c per serve
Refried Beans add 25c per serve
Kumatos add 70c per serve
Add 30c for Butter Lettuce
Add 30c for Salsa.
The Shredded Beef was great, but the Tostada construction was somewhat fragile. Still, very tasty for $5.46 per serve.
A pair of quite simple sandwiches: Kumato & Smoked Cheddar on one; Sweet & Spicy Tuna with Avocado & Sprouts on the other.
Dave’s Killer Bread is 74c per serve
The Sweet & Spicy Tuna is 99c or 50c per serve
Sprouts add 30c per serve
Smokey Cheddar was $2.69 for 10 slices, or 27c per serve
Five Kumato were $3.49 and we used one, or 35c per serve.
While the Tuna was a different brand, it’s a direct taste replacement for the discontinued version! Two good shared sandwiches for $2.16 per serve.
Tonight was a “take out, eat at home” Thursday so we ordered and collected from Skewers Halaal. We had planned on both having Lamb Kebabs, which have been great in the past, served with a very, very tasty (and generous serve) of rice. With only one serve of Lamb available, we ordered a Chapli Kebab for the alternative and shared proteins.
We ultimate preferred the Chapli and will definitely order it again. We actually ordered two entrees for $14.22 per serve with tax.
