A nearby shopping trip put us near Mr Fish & Chips. We stuck with the Fried Scallops, Fries and Coleslaw and ordered extra Coleslaw. This is a meal for one that we shared, making it $5.19 with tax and tip.
The Country Deli is on our roster of “take out meals that will survive the trip home” and it was time to order the Rumanian Skirt Steak Dinner. The Foodies divided the over generous portion of Home Fries, while Foodie Greg enjoyed the fried Vegetables, and Foodie Philip enjoyed three Pastured Eggs.
It’s kind of a hack to The Country Deli meal, but it’s a good meal, and substitutes for the brunches we can’t currently have. The Shared Deli meal was $15.72 per serve with tax and tip, while three Pastured Eggs adds $1.26, or an average of $16.35 per serve.
A return to a favorite: Apple & Smokey Cheddar Sandwiches.
Dave’s Killer Bread is 74c per serve
The Apple was 79c or 20c per serve
Smokey Cheddar was $2.69 for 10 slices, or 54c per serve
Add 30c for Mustard.
As always a nice balance between the Smokey Cheddar and the sharpness of the Apple, balanced with the Mustard. A favorite sandwich for $1.78 per serve.
We smoked Pork Chops from our Prather Ranch delivery in our range top smoker and served with Roast Baby Potatoes and Organic Sauerkraut.
The Pork Chops are $10.30 or $5.15 per serve
The Organic Sauerkraut is $3.29 and we used ¼ or 41c per serve
The Medley of Baby Potatoes was $2.69 and we used ⅓, or 45c per serve.
Perfectly smokey and cooked to perfection the Pork Chops were balanced by the Sauerkraut, with the Baked Baby Potatoes providing a little crunch and texture balance. A very enjoyable meal for $6.01 per serve.
Today is the anniversary the Foodie’s Marriage Ceremony, so we grabbed a Cheeseburger and Double Double (Animal Style for both) and headed to Deukmejian Wilderness Park where the ceremony was held. The Burgers averaged $4.14 per serve.
The Foodies decided to try Maru Sushi Bar that is probably our second closest restaurant. We picked Bento Boxes with Miso Soup. The portions were generous and the flavor excellent for $13.14 per serve. We’ll definitely be back.
Mussels are always a favorite, and in a Goan Coconut Sauce with Naan, they make a great meal.
The Goan Simmer Sauce was $5.49 or $2.75 per serve
The Mussels were $2.49 or $1.25 per serve
The Naan $3.49 or $1.75 per serve.
It’s interesting that the Simmer Sauce and Naan were each more than the protein! Still a very tasty meal for $5.75 per serve.
