Oct 19: Ham, Cheese & Kumato; Soba Soup with Bok Choy and Poached Egg

A slightly cooler day made some toasted sandwiches ideal, so we did the classic Ham, Swiss & Kumato combination.

  • Dave’s Killer Bread is 74c per serve
  • Swiss is 34c per serve
  • Black Forest Ham is $3.29 per pack, or 66c per serve
  • Five Kumato were $3.49 and we used one each, or 70c per serve
  • Add 40c for Garlic Spread.

A good toasted sandwich (one each) for $2.84 per serve.

  • Refried Beans add 25c per serve

The Shredded Beef was great, but the Tostada construction was somewhat fragile. Still, very tasty for $5.46 per serve.

Oct 17: Asparagus & Onion Frittata; Rack of Lamb with Raspberry, Feta Salad

While the Tuna was a different brand, it’s a direct taste replacement for the discontinued version! Two good shared sandwiches for $2.16 per serve.

Dinner

Tonight was a “take out, eat at home” Thursday so we ordered and collected from Skewers Halaal. We had planned on both having Lamb Kebabs, which have been great in the past, served with a very, very tasty (and generous serve) of rice. With only one serve of Lamb available, we ordered a Chapli Kebab for the alternative and shared proteins.

We ultimate preferred the Chapli and will definitely order it again. We actually ordered two entrees for $14.22 per serve with tax.

A nice do-over with enough difference to feel like a different meal, rather than a repeat, for $4.92 per serve.

Oct 13: Ham & Coleslaw, Kumato & Smokey Cheddar; Marinated Top Sirloin with Peanut Butter ‘Satay’ Sauce served with a Sprout and Bell Pepper Salad

Dinner

A simple Caesar Salad Kit from Aldi, made an easy ‘Meatless Monday’.

  • The Caesar Salad kit was $1.99 or $1.00 per serve.

It’s a pretty decent Salad for $1.00 per serve.

Oct 11: Eggy Tostadas; Turmeric-Coconut Curry with Pork and Brown Rice

We added Refried Beans, Smokey Cheddar and Scrambled Eggs to Tostada.

Oct 10: Ham & Coleslaw; Lamb, Mint and Pomegranate Salad with Strawberry, Cucumber and Balsamic Salad with Feta

  • Dave’s Killer Bread is 74c per serve
  • The Coleslaw is 56c per serve
  • Black Forest Ham is $3.29 per pack, or 66c per serve.

A pretty decent sandwich for $1.96 per serve.

Dinner

A return to a definite favorite: Lamb, Mint and Pomegranate Salad. We served a variation on this the last time Foodie Philip’s Family ate together. Tonight’s version was built on a Lamb Shank.

  • The Lamb Shank was $10.71 or $5.36 per serve
  • The Pomegranate was $1.78 or 90c per serve
  • Mint came from our garden
  • Strawberries were $1.79 and we used half or 45c per serve

An excellent meal in perfect balance for $8.25. It was not lost on the Foodies that the Lamb Shank is a more expensive protein than Rack of Lamb at $5.13 per serve. Both have their place.
