Mar 7: Steak & Stout Pie; Pork with Caramelized Mushrooms and Peas


The coldest day of the week calls for a nice meat pie. Today we both had Steak and Stout pies.

Trader Joe’s pies are $6.49 for two or $3.25 per serve.


Always looking for ways to use Ground Pork or Ground Beef, we settled on a new recipe: Pork with Caramelized Mushrooms and Peas. We got three serves from the recipe.

  • The pork came from our meat delivery – 1 lb of ground pork cost $8.31 or $$2.77 per serve
  • The Mushrooms were $7.99, but shared about half, or $1.33 per serve
  • Snow Peas add 82c per serve
  • Add 40c for other ingredients
  • Add 33c for brown rice.

This was a pretty tasty stir fry for $5.77 per serve.
