Oct 17: Burgers; BBQ Chicken with Roast Garlic Salad

Lunch

At lunch we visited Kickapoo Tavern and had Burgers. Foodie Philip created his own (with perhaps one too many ingredients) while Foodie Greg had their Magic Mushroom Burger. Disappointingly they were not, but it tasted good!

The Burgers averaged $22.98 per serve.

Dinner

We picked up a BBQ Chicken and Roast Garlic Salad Kit from the supermarket.

  • The Chicken cost $1.75 per serve
  • The Salad Kit was $3.00 but we only used half, or 75c per serve.

A decent meal on a cold night for $2.50 per serve.

Lunch

The Foodies were traveling so lunch was a Brisket Sandwich with Chips and Slaw at Burbank Airport for $18.63 per serve.

Oct 11: Scrambled Eggs; Crunchy Slaw with Chicken, Crispy Noodles and Peanut Dressing

Lunch

Around 2:30 am the Foodies were told to “get out” under a mandatory fire evacuation order. We delayed until 5:30am but decided it was time to go. Ultimately we ended up with nearby friends, who cooked scrambled eggs for breakfast, which also turned out to be lunch.

We were evacuated from that location at 2pm, at which time we got more dry ice for the refrigerator and decided to stay home.

Dinner

With no power, and no idea when it would come back on, the Foodies picked up another salad from Trader Joes: Crunchy Slaw with Chicken, Crispy Noodles and Peanut Dressing, which also turned out to be pretty good for $4.49 per serve.

Power, surprisingly, came back on just after 6pm.

Oct 10: Chicken Curry Sandwiches; Lemon Chicken and Arugula Salad

Lunch

While power was restored around 6pm last night, it was gone again by 9am today due to a Public Safety Shutdown caused by high winds. At that time reinstatement is uncertain.

We decided to clean as much from the refrigerator and made Chicken Curry Sandwiches.

  • Dave’s Killer Bread is 66c per serve
  • The Curry Chicken Salad is $4.49 and we each had half, or $2.25 per serve.

A decent sandwich for $2.91 per serve.

Dinner

Still without power, we went to Trader Joes and picked up two Lemon Chicken and Arugula Salads for $4.49 each. This was surprisingly good for a prepared salad, mostly due to an excellent Pimento dressing.
