Sep 5: Lamb Rissoles with Lemon-yoghurt Sauce and a Blood orange, Pickled Beet, Pickled Red Onion, Feta Mint Salad

  • The Brioche Bagel is 58c
  • The Smoked Salmon pieces were $1.38 per serve
  • Add 20c for Neufchatel
  • Add 40c for Tomato and Capers.

A nice indulgence for $2.56 per serve.

Dinner

What could be better than Lamb Rissoles – made to the Soutzoukakia recipe – grilled outside, topped with a Lemon-yoghurt Sauce made from Preserved Lemon, and served with a Blood orange, Pickled Beet, Pickled Red Onion, Feta Mint Salad. We got four serves from tonight’s mix.

  • Ground lamb was $3.00 on special or 50c per serve

Sep 4: Sous Vide Duck Breast with Bok Choy and Soba Noodles

Lunch

I think this is the longest break between Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwiches from Skewers, since we discovered it back in February. Still great, with a side of fries, for $8.75 per serve.

Dinner

We strongly prefer the Duck Breast to the Leg, although the Leg is good, and now we have fine tuned the frying off of the skin to perfection. The rendered Duck Fat is used to cook the Garlic Bok Choy.

  • The Duck was $15.46 or $7.73 per serve
  • Soba Noodles are $3.29 and we used about ⅓ or 55c per serve
  • The Bok Choy was $2.00 and we used about half or 50c per serve.

We got the skin perfect by lowering the temperature and extending the time. A great meal for $8.78 per serve.

  • Pickled Onion adds 5c per serve
  • Pickled Beets adds 15c per serve
  • Green Olives add 65c per serve.

The Pizza was excellent, as expected with a perfectly cooked base, and the Pickled Beets and Onion make a great aside. Unfortunately the Green Olives did not fit. Still, a great meal for $5.10 per serve.

Sep 2: Marinated Skirt Steak, Home Fries and Eggs/Vegetables

Amp up some Shin Ramen with Coleslaw mix (undressed of course), but drain off the soup, leaving a nice level of heat infused in the noodles. Finish with a pat of Butter.

Tonight it was time to hack The Country Deli’s Steak Dinner for one, into a meal for two. One serve gets the Home Fries, half the Steak and three Eggs fried at home, while the other gets the remaining Steak, Mixed Vegetable and – new tonight – Oven Fries.

With the addition of three Eggs, a meal for one becomes a generous meal for two, for only $18.43 per serve.
